Ai Miyazato Wins Again
By kickntrue on 3/2/10
Winning back to back season opening tournaments hasn't happened in 44 years on the LPGA Tour, until Ai Miyazato pulled it off this weekend! Miyazato moved to number 3 in the Women's World Rankings.
Miyazato, the 24-year-old Japanese star who won the Honda PTT LPGA Thailand last week, took the lead with a birdie on the par-4 16th – a hole she played in 5 under for the week – and parred the final two holes to finish at 10 under on Tanah Merah’s Garden Course.

A 15-time winner on the Japan Tour, Miyazato earned $195,000 for her third career LPGA victory – all outside North America. She won the Evian Masters last year in France for her first LPGA title.
It seems like just a year ago we were talking about Lorena Ochoa and her future domination of the sport, and then Jiyai Shin decided to take that throne as Queen of the sport. Now it seems Miyazato may be the next hot thing. Competition and stars are a great thing for the LPGA, but I just can't help but think they wish the names we were talking about were Creamer, Wie and Pressel.

Still, a star is a star! I'm of the mindset that as a fan, it is your job to root for history, so I'm rooting for Miyazato to keep going! I'd love to see her pull of another tourney or two to start the season.
