New Mexico Tech Golf Course
1 Canyon Rd
Socorro, NM 87801, United States

575.835.5335
The course at New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology is an attractive one; it offers picturesque views of the Rio Grande valley and surrounding mountains with many elevation changes. The course hosts the annual Socorro Open, as well as the NMT Presidential, a fairly notable amateur tournament.

The course (and the university) are located about 75 miles south of Albuquerque, just off Interstate 25. The public *is* welcome here; the standard walking rates are $25 weekdays and $28 weekends, while NMT students pay just $5.50. Memberships also are available for the public, and for NMT students, faculty, and staff.

Great course, totally worth the drive from El Paso, about 2.75 hours from Downtown. Good layout, you'll use every club in your bag. Simple maintenance, but the greens roll true. Ignore the paid-for hype in the golf magazines; this is a true top-10 in New Mexico course.

For a killer junket, drive up super early and play New Mexico Tech, have lunch at the Owl Bar or The Place Across the Street one exit south in San Antonio and play an afternoon round at Sierra del Rio in T or C. You'll be exhausted but happy. From Albuquerque, do it in reverse order.
