Shark River GC is one of six public courses owned and operated by the County of Monmouth (NJ). Tee times are available through their reservation system after the purchase of a Monmouth County Resident ID card or a Non-Resident Reservation ID card.

Designed by Scottish golf pro Joseph "Scotty" I'Anson in 1922, Shark River Golf Course features tight, narrow fairways; deep-faced bunkers; and the challenge of small, well-protected greens. The holes vary from a short, drivable par-4 to a long and risky par-5, dotted by some strong par-3s.

The course is open through the winter, weather permitting, with temporary tees and greens. Mobile concession cart for snacks & refreshments provided from March until December and at other times are available through vending machines.

the lesser of the county courses of Monmouth County but will always return when the other courses are overbooked

August 2011 - Called SkyCaddy and requested that 8th hole be remapped for moved green. Nice course, close to ocean results in a it being a bit cooler in summer than other inland Monmouth County courses. My overall favorite besides Hominy Hill.

8th hole yardage needs to be adjusted, short by 37 yards!

Decent muni. Greens in good shape although a bit slow. Tee boxes pretty sparse--disease? SkyCaddie yardages are off for 8th hole, which has been extended by about 39 yards. Very ugly mound guarding 8th green should be removed or regraded and planted with fescue.
