Chateau Golf & Country Club was developed in 1972 as the premier residential and championship golf complex in the Greater New Orleans area. It boasts a magnificent 50,000 square foot clubhouse, which has played host to numerous member functions, Governor's balls, private parties and wedding receptions.

The par 72, 6,800 yard golf course has enjoyed hosting events during the past 30 years for the Louisiana Golf Association, the PGA of America and USGA. In the year 2000, the PGA Tour contracted the site to host its first annual Saturday Series Pro-Am.

Rated as one of the top facilities in the area, the golf course was completely renovated in 1998 with tees and greens changed to the new Champion Bermuda grass. The hybrid fairways, consistent sand bunkers, and strategically placed water hazards display Chateau's commitment to fair and challenging golf. The greens that vary in size and undulation, along with the contoured fairways, leave the serious golfer asking for more. Parts of the course are more reminiscent of Palm Springs rather than Southern Louisiana.

This is your basic golf course, but the private club variety. I won a round there in a tournament and the expiration date was upon me. This is a very typical course for the area and the time. Built in the 70's the course was wound through what ended up being a community after it's development. It is a tight layout, with the front nine featuring 3 par 3's, 3 par 4's and 3 par 5's. The course opens a little on the back nine. Not long by today's standards, the course seemed fairly well kept. The greens were decent and quick. It isn't what you'd think of when you think of a private course, but for the 70's it was probably plush; and the club itself with it's pool, tennis courts, restaurant and reception hall make for a nice setup.
