This course opened in 1901 with a design by James Foulis and Theodore Moreau, although William Watson did some design changes when the club purchased 55 adjacent acres. Then Donald Ross oversaw a redesign between 1917 and 1919. Modern-day architect David Esler oversaw a renovation in 2001 that was meant to echo typical Ross design characteristics. Today, this par-70 layout plays from 5,243 to 6,321 yards.

For many years, this was a private country club, but after financial failure, a local veterinarian and golf enthusiast purchased the course and opened it to the public as a semi-private operation.

The standard public walking rates here are $54 weekdays and $70 weekends (carts are $15). 9-hole, junior, senior, and twilight discounts are available, as are annual passes.

Great old school course design. Bunkering and mounding is placed at just the right distance for the average golfer to enjoy. Big hitters maybe able to avoid many of the hazards.
Pace of play is good mid week ,but much slower on the weekends. Greens were fast and true in great shape. Bunkers in good shape with light fluffy sand. The course is not very long at 6300 yds from the tips, but don't be fooled by that. Quirky layout has 5 par 3's and 3 par 5's for an overall par 70. Three of the par 3's are long 180 yds or longer. Most of the par 4's are around 390-400, only one short par 4. A new hybrid set of tees has been added to shorten up some of the long holes. Bev cart service was good.
Water station every 3rd hole or so. Halfway house after the 10th hole. Staff was very friendly. Club house is nice and gives you a taste of country club atmosphere.
