Big Run Golf Club

Big Run Golf Club can be difficult but enjoyable, challenging and sporty. The course has never stood on it's laurels, it has been reshaped over the years to compliment both the improvements in today's golfers and to take advantage of this scenic piece of land golfers have come to enjoy.

Hundreds of tall oak trees throughout the course (some oaks are centuries old), complimented by five lakes and Long Run Creek, will test your shot making abilities. 8 of 18 holes bring water into play. The course is heavily bunkered.

Very scenic course, but very difficult. Lots of elevation changes and very difficult greens.

Great location and plenty of elevation changes. However the course was in terrible shape and the staff in the pro shop were less than friendly. They don't even put a starter on the first tee which is ridiculous. The greens are slow and bunmpy, and the fairways are shaggy. Played a 5.5 hour round and not once did I see a marshal.

Very challenging course. Lots of hills & narrow fairways.

Course has been neglected and it shows. Greens were very slow but I did play day after a pretty heavy rain. Still, the course condition was poor as compared to prior years. Gone are some of the niceties of years gone by - landscaping and general upkeep is below par. Can be salvaged but the weak economy is being addressed through cutbacks on course maintenence.

A fantastic piece of propoerty and a great layout, but the lack maintenance really took away from the experience. The greens were very slow, and did not roll true, very bumpy. The bar staff was a 10. I would come back just for that. The course is a brute with a lot of long par 4's and some 600 yard par 5's. The greens had a lot of break and undulation. Many of the holes were uphill. Could be a great course again if some effort was put back into keeping it in shape. No bev cart, but there was water stations every 3 or 4 holes.

One of the hardest courses on the South Side of Chicago because of the hills. A premium for being on the fairways. Wo be it to him who goes off the fairways, it will cost you TWO strokes. One because of the very long ruff and Two because of all the very large, and closely positioned trees. The whole course needs to be mowed shorter. Even the fairways were "long". They got rid of the GPS system because it was always having problems. Now they has laser scopes - a Skycaddie is the best tool for this course because many of the flag sticks are not visible due to the severe up and down nature of the terrain. Bunkers were not in good shape. Greens were excessively slow and also need to be cut.
