Golf was first played on this site north of London in 1903, while the famous architect Harry S. Colt designed at least 13 greens and over 100 bunkers. The course has survived two world wars, including the use of the 14th, 16th, and 17th holes for corn-fields during World War II.
The standard visitor walking rates are £35 on weekdays, then £45 on weekend afternoons. Twilight, 9-hole county card-holder, and guest-of-member discounts are also offered. Societies and charitable events are also welcome with prior arrangement.

This is lovely little course situated in a fairly tranquil area. The course itself was in great condition when I played it in May 2011, the greens were very true and had good pace, the fairways were in very good condition and were well manicured. The course is one where attention to course management will pay dividends and, has the opprtunity for big hitters to really run up a score.
Facilities were very good, showers, complimentary towels, well stocked pro shop and the catering and bar were excellent and great value for money
