Rosebery Course
The 18-hole championship standard 6,855 yards par 72 Rosebery course looks in one direction over magnificent chestnut trees across the Vale of Aylesbury, and in the other over the clubhouse grounds, to the distant Chiltern Hills.

The Rosebery course has spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The front nine are played around the perimeter of the course, which is mainly surrounded by the mature woodland. The 6th and 7th holes are played parallel to the historic bridle path, bordered by magnificent chestnut trees that used to link the towers to the famous Stud Farm where three Derby winners were bred at the turn of the 19th century.

The 9th hole measures over 600 yards and before admiring the breathtaking backdrop of the Chilterns, the drive must be threaded through trees on either side of the fairway. The back nine has two long par 4's, the 10th and 12th, before finishing on the 18th hole which tempts the golfer to open the shoulders with another drive towards the distant hills.

Rothschild Course
The 18-hole championship standard 6,800 yards par 72 Rothschild course is set in rolling parkland and has a different set of challenges with water hazards dominating six of the opening nine holes.

The back nine are played beneath the honey-coloured turrets of the Towers whose watchful gaze can be inspirational to the most humble of golfers, particularly the 14th hole when a carry over more water can test even the strongest nerve.

Complacency must be avoided until the 18th hole has been successfully negotiated, as this long par 3 between trees and over a small pond can be a potential card wrecker.

2 courses. The Rosebury is by far the better one. If you find you are being offered the Rothschild my recommendation is to cancel the booking. When we played that course we were so fed up with flooded fairways (course should have been closed) and boring field like layout that we packed it in after 9. The Rosebury however is more interesting with good greens and a more varied layout. Not brilliant, but acceptable. On a positive note the manager was very understanding and the special rate for fourballs was reasonable.

Played this course (Roseberry) today (25/4) and was off my game, and left far too many shots in bunkers I struggled to get out of. The course is nice and quite hilly, some of the greens hadn't weathered too well, and the bunkers weren't consistent, some had lots of soft sand others very little and were in need of a good rake.

Generally the course was in fine condition and as we had a 4-ball for £100 special worked out as good value.

This course compliments the flatter and watery Rothschild course nicely.

Very very expensive for what is basically 18 flags in a field with a bit of water, a nice looking house on a few holes and a decent club house. Very much got the impression we were not really wanted which may explain the price. Could have played other courses locally that would have been just as good for half the price. I will not be returning, I would suggest you only book a tee time as a last resort.
