This moorland-style course opened in 1895. While five-time Open champion James Braid did the first formal course design just after the turn of the century, Dr. Alister Mackenzie oversaw some alterations to the course in 1912.

Visitors are welcome, but should call ahead for availability. The standard summer walking rates are £25/round or £35/day weekdays, and £30/round or £40/day on weekends. Carts/buggies are £20 per round.
