Both courses here were designed by the American architect Robert E. Cupp, who was previously part of Jack Nicklaus's course design staff. Both were designed with major championship golf in mind; the East Course hosted the 1993 and 1994 European Opens, as well as several European Challenge Tour and Euro Tour Q-Schools. At 7138 yards from the gold tees, it is a formidable test.

Visitors are welcome, but advance booking is essential. The peak-season walking rates are £55 on Sundays through Thursdays, then £65 on Fridays and Saturdays (carts are £28). Twilight and shoulder season rates are available, as are memberships. Societies and corporate groups are also welcome with prior arrangement.

Both courses in excellent condition considering how dry it has been. Greens exceptionally quick if you are on the wrong side of them.

Hotel/golf course has a limited range beers/lagers all from local brewery, mainstream drinks only available in bottles

East is an open qualifier and a nice track with some interesting holes. Better of the two courses with the better condition and greens.
