Aldeburgh Golf Club has two courses that are open year-round, weather permitting. The 18-hole Championship course was originally designed by Willie Park, Jr., with the bunkers designed by five-time Open champion J.H. Taylor. Then in 1921, the very notable architects Harry S. Colt and Charles Hugh Alison significantly altered the layout and built four new greens. Beginning in 2006, architects Ken Moodie and Ken Brown have cleared much of the gorse, but added some bunkers and swales around the greens.

Two-ball matches only are allowed on the main course and, whilst singles are popular, the club members revel in their two-ball foursomes, whether comprised of men, ladies or both. Eighteen holes rarely take more than three hours over Aldeburgh’s compact layout. It is a good place to play thirty-six holes in a day, with minimal walking from green to tee.

Brilliant course - no par 5s but you don't need those with the brutal par 4s this course has. If you can get a good score round here you can play anywhere!

Interesting contrast between the website (traditional club etc) and the meeting in the Pro shop (we are very relaxed). Beware though, LONG SOCKS with shorts are compulsory ... Englishmen should river in their sandals. But the course is stunning and difficult in spite of there being no par 5s - the wind and pace of the greens more than compensate.
