The course is probably most famous for the 17th and 18th holes, which are played over the Silvermere Lake. Silvermere is also notable because it was here that British golf had its first female head teaching professional — Renée Powell, who played in more than 250 LPGA tournaments and was the first black-American woman to become a Class A member of the PGA of America.

Interestingly, Silvermere is also known for a former use as a testing site for the famous "Dambuster" bouncing bomb. In scenes made famous on British television, Barnes Wallis used a huge catapult to fire mini-prototypes across a lake, to test whether they should use forward or back spin, a spherical or cylindrical shape, and a smooth or dimpled surface. So, golfers who lose a ball at 17 or 18 should be consoled by the thought of all the other valuable objects their ball has joined in the water.

Nice course to play, can get a little boring at times but on the whole good. Gret Pro Shop - one of the best in the area

Silvermere is good fun. You get all types of golf which makes you think: open and long or tight holes which encourage you to shape the ball. The greens could be better and the pace of play is slow.
And despite the bar being overpriced, check out their breakfast golf deals.
