Designed by legendary golf architect Arthur Hills and his associate Drew Rogers, the Orchard Course at Newport National Golf Club spans almost 200 acres of former shrub and tree nurseries that offer sweeping views of The Sakonnet Passage, Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay.

The course features greens, tees and fairways consisting of 100% seaside bent grass, and grand, swaying fescue often exceeding 4’ in length. Reminiscent of some of Irelands finest golf links, play Newport National and experience a unique New England golfing experience.

Beautiful course in RI, love the link style. No driving range which they are working on but great staff and fun track, I'd play it again in a heart beat

A little pricey but its in Newport. Nice Golf Course

One of the best conditioned public courses in New England. The only ding is the in-season rates which are $125. The shoulder rates are a bargain and the course is in awesome shape so being early spring or late fall doesn't matter much.

What can I say - an incredible course. None of the holes are comprimised in any way. A big layout with wonderful strategical challenges. Great driving course with many chances for high-risk/rewards, though room to bail as well. The holes face many angles and thus wind only hurts you occasionally. I play there only on discounted days, but I'll take it!

Played this course today(10/21/13)it was in great shape. Couple of tough holes, narrow fairways on a couple, but it was a wonderful round, lots of fun. Played with 3 other gentlemen who, like myself were 1st timers. I very highly recommend it.

Took a vaca day to play @ the $55 pre-Memorial Day weekday rate. Course itself is stunning. Rough is DENSE, difficult to push a ClicGear cart through in places. Great service on patio, but for ~$100 greens fee, the clubhouse/lounge is weak, to say the least.

Wonderful day. Only poor experience was the extreme slow pace of play.

hard for the average golfer. I played when the waste lands were cut. It would be even harder in the summer

This is by far the best public course in the Rhode Island/ Massachusetts area (Can't really speak for ALL of New England..). In pristine conditions, the greens are fabulous, and the scenery is low key and extremely comforting. The only downside is there is no driving range and the practice putting green only has a few holes and tends to get pretty crowded. If you are averse to a $90 greens fee, wait until twilight and it drops to $60. Well worth playing in the morning though.

Played Newport National Aug 21st. Great, great course and is in awesome shape. Played with 4 others and all agree that this course is by far our favorite that we have played. We paid the 95 fee and thought it was well worth it.
