Sunol Valley Golf Club features two championship courses. The unique geography and strategic location of these courses provide a great golf getaway for residents of the Bay Area.

Cypress is considered the easier of our two Courses. Playing just 6,195 yards from the tips, Cypress is known not so much from its length as its wonderful views. Cypress offers nature at its best proving a tranquil setting that golfers seem to be drawn to.

The tougher of Sunol's two courses - the palm course plays 6,406 yards from the white tees and can pose quite a challenge on a windy day. Judging the conditions and picking the right clubs for your approaches will be key.

The Palm course is a wide open, resort style course without a lot of character. Other than the planted palm trees that are scattered along the fairways, there isn't a lot of foliage. Landing areas are large off the tee, and there isn't much bunkering. The greens are on the small side, and fairly flat. The course is very walkable, and you do get nice views of the surrounding hills.

The Palm Course has some very interesting history. When the course opened in April 27th, 1968, it was at the time the fourth longest course in the nation measuring 7,408 yards. What made it completely unique was that the owner spent $325,000 to illuminate the entire course so that night golf can exist. All the lights were placed on the trunks of the palm trees. The owner was quoted saying" We'll hold tournaments at night. And I can see the time when fellas will organize night golf leagues like they do in bowling." They let people tee off as late as 9 PM and play until 2 o'clock in the morning. The head pro at the time said "You can follow the tee shot all the way. The ball really shows up at night. It's real white." Awesome!
