Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort

Shawnee on Delaware, PA 18356, United States

Shawnee Inn is located on the north shore of the Delaware River separating Pennsylvania and New Jersey. When the original 18 holes (now the Red and Blue nines) opened in 1907, they were A.W. Tillinghast's first-ever course design. Shawnee Inn hosted the 1938 PGA Championship (Paul Runyon over Sam Snead, 8 & 7) and the 1967 NCAA championships, where Hale Irwin was the individual medalist and the University of Houston won the team title.

Then in 1968, the resort added the White nine, designed by architect Bill Diddel. All but three of the 27 holes are located on a private island surrounded by the Delaware River. Meanwhile, a lighted, six-hole chip-and-putt course designed by the acclaimed architect Tom Doak is also available. Dining, spa, and lodging facilities are also available on-site.

The standard rates vary by season, although twilight, shoulder-season, and stay-and-play rates are offered, as are memberships.

Nice overall course in good condition with historic design but nothing spectacular. Friendly staff and lodge appeared to be well kept.
