Pelican Hill Golf Club

Newport Coast, CA 92657-2008, United States

Architect Tom Fazio designed all 36 holes at The Resort at Pelican Hill, as well as the nearby 18-hole course at Oak Creek Golf Club, to which resort guests also have access.

OCEAN NORTH: Fazio's design here takes advantage of the ocean views, open canyons, and elevated plateaus. Several cliff-side holes add to the experience.

OCEAN SOUTH: The shorter South 18 plays through more eucalyptus and sage, although 270° ocean views are available on several holes.

The daily fee here is $290, although sliding twilight rates are offered.

Both Pelican Hill courses were the highlight of our west coast trip!

We thoroughly enjoyed playing the Ocean North course. The course is challenging and well maintained but most of all it was pleasant and the views are spectacular. I recommend playing this course and look forward to playing it again.

Awesome views and fast greens. Very fast. Well worth the experience of playing there.

When Pelican reopened it was clear that they were trying to be "Pebble Beach South." I have news for them, it isn't even in the same league. The course has been open now for a few years and the fairways are still spotty and rough. At $300+ for a green fee you'd think they'd put a little more water and fertilizer on the course. Their sister course, Oak Creek, is 1/3 the price and in much better shape. The greens are good, a bit on the slow side, but roll true. The views are pretty good, but not Pebble-like. There are some fun driving holes where you have to hit across canyons, but none of these add up to being a great course. Definitely not worth more than $100 round.
