Best deal in the Bay area. $35 for golf with cart, breakfast, lunch and 2 beverages. Fairways were good and the green ran well. It is windy over there

Nice course for the price. People are friendly and had a fun time. Course is pretty "open", but the links style will get you if you are not careful. Will play again next time I'm in the East Bay area.

Not bad for the fee

They need to add pin point for the SGXW.

I played early and was by myself on a midweek day. The course was lovely and the starter gave me a nice overview of the course and a few tips as it was first time playing it. Coming from high altitude down to sea level was another challenge for the day. I will say that the traps are hard and deep. I was in them twice -- one with OK results, another that resulted in a DB as I couldn't splash to save my life. Loved the view of the bay and the overall condition of the course was great!

I like links golf and much of the Tony Lema is links. Holes 1 ,9 , 10 and 11 are part of the old tree lined Marina Course.
Almost sitting right on the bay with views of San Francisco in the distance, you are going to have play in the wind most afternoons. Coming home holes 15-18 are head on into that strong wind, but wind is part of links golf so I pretend I have this putt to win the Britsh Open.

Monarch Bay is a great value. It's a links style course near the bay. The fairways are forgiving and the course is usually in good shape. Bring your A sand game, cause the course defends itself with lots of bunkering. Wind always plays a factor here, but that's generally the case with all Bay Area courses. Very walkable.

In the afternoon a strong crosswind can seriously come into play... duh! It's right on the bay! Great sunsets, etc. I played it a lot in the 90's prior to new makeover, and fewer times since. Some great big expanses for driving, and some huge greens. Great condition and value.
