This very attractive parkland course is advertised as one of the oldest in the United States; the same course has been open for play since 1893, when a Scotsman named George McCree laid out the first collection of holes here. Just two years later, an amateur golfer from Illinois named E.J. Frost was brought in for a formal nine-hole design; the second nine debuted three years later. An interesting architectural quirk exists in that the final four holes consist of three consecutive par-5s, followed by a par-3.

This private club became the ninth within Minnesota to earn Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary status in 1998.
