Bronx, NY 10463, United States

"Vanny," as it is known by locals, is located in the North Bronx off Major Deegan Expressway, not terribly far from Manhattan. The course has two noteworthy claims:

• The first public course in the U.S. (1895)
• One of few courses accessible by subway (No. 1 train to Van Cortlandt Park Station)

Great Muni course in the Bronx. It was winter, so a few of the greens were covered by tarps as well as a few tee boxes. But the price was right, $30 to ride! And the play was fast. Take that with a grain of salt as it was a Monday afternoon.

Played there July 18 7am tee time, I think the course is very nice, only a few greens were not perfect the rest were, and what I like the most is that for a begginer as I am the fairways are not as tight as I had read, I did not hit any tee shot into the woods. The only thing is that if you are not fit you need a cart on this course, because there is a lot of walking in beetwen 5 holes.
