From fairway to freeway?
By Torleif Sorenson on 4/8/15

When portable GPS units became available for cars more than a decade ago, a few glitches and hiccups resulted in some hilarious TV news stories and word-of-mouth anecdotes about non-existent side roads and botched directions.

But that was a long time ago; the hardware and especially the software are now orders of magnitude better and more accurate.

Unfortunately, several drivers trying to avoid a traffic jam on the Massachusetts Turnpike ended up being guided onto Heritage Country Club in Charlton.

We are pleased that course owner Bill Plante has relatively little damage to repair, but a few signs and some strategically-planted trees might help matters.

That... and a phone call or e-mail to the GPS manufacturer, asking them to use map data that doesn't date to 1960-something.

Note to self: update my Garmin.

I admit to occasionally turning into parking lots when she tells me "Turn Right Now!"

To be fair, Google Maps needs a bit of work here in the State of Hockey. :)

Funny Apple Maps is a old as the hills (13 years at least)no garage at our house.
Google is always being updated.
Our first sat-nav once tried to take us down a hil that was so steep and rock strewn that you would have struggled in a tank.
