Holly Sonders Goes To Fox Sports
By Torleif Sorenson on 7/15/14
First, Fox Sports gained the USGA's television rights to the U.S. Open and the other national championships. Next, they hired Greg Norman to be their lead analyst.

Now comes word that Fox has hired Holly Sonders (f.k.a. Holly Niederkohr), most recently of Golf Channel, to join their golf coverage. Ben Alberstadt of golfwrx.com reports that Sonders may also do some sideline report for Fox's National Football League coverage. This would not be a first for her; the Michigan State University graduate (2009, journalism) worked as a sideline reporter for Big Ten Network. (She was also previously employed at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas.)

At Golf Channel, she has co-hosted "Playing Lessons," "Morning Drive," and "School of Golf." At Fox, it is reasonable to assume that she could be the studio or on-site host of their golf coverage; as a member of a Bit Ten championship-winning Michigan State women's golf team, she is certainly no stranger to the course.

Alberstadt says that contract talks between her and NBC, corporate parent of Golf Channel, had stalled recently. Fox was obviously smart enough to pounce at an ideal time for them — and for Sonders, apparently.
