Reports: Bethpage Black to Host 2019 PGA, 2024 Ryder Cup
By Torleif Sorenson on 8/14/13

As reported by Golfweek, the famous Black Course at Bethpage State Park will host the 2019 PGA Championship and the 2024 Ryder Cup Matches. Speculation about these two events going to the famous A.W. Tillinghast design actually began in 2011 — and PGA of America president Ted Bishop isn't confirming it, he isn't denying it, either.

Interestingly, he wasn't focused so much on the idea of the PGA at Bethpage nearly as much as the Ryder Cup:
"I think taking a major sporting event like the Ryder Cup to what I would arguably say is the greatest sports city in the United States in New York would be a phenomenal combination," Bishop said from Oak Hill Country Club, site of the PGA Championship. "It's a mammoth venue, and you've got a lot of possibilities for infrastructure and being able to handle crowds and the stadium-golf concept. I could give you 100 reasons why I think Bethpage certainly is very high on our radar as it relates to a Ryder Cup."
At first glance, it seems a shame to have to wait 11 more years of our all-too-short lives to witness a Ryder Cup at Bethpage. But the next four Matches already have their venues decided:
2014:    Gleneagles Resort, Auchterarder, Scotland

2016:    Hazeltine National Golf Club, Chaska, Minnesota

2018:    Le Golf National, Guyancourt, France

2020:    Whistling Straits, Kohler, Wisconsin
